DJ POOL is a Seoul-based DJ and producer who approaches underground club music as a matter of structure and decision-making, rather than genre or trend. His work focuses on shaping the flow of a space through rhythm, timing, and cuts— prioritizing control and direction over immediate reaction. Active since 2012, DJ POOL began with hip-hop and breakbeats before developing a distinct approach to percussive club forms, particularly ghetto tech and baile funk. Rejecting reliance on drops or shortcuts, his sets unfold through long-form progression and deliberate choices, maintaining tension across the dancefloor. His debut EP GOTTA GO stands as a clear statement of this approach. Built on baile funk foundations and featuring Brazilian artists aka AFK and MC Buret, the project established DJ POOL as an artist who communicates through output rather than explanation—positioning him firmly in authorship rather than functionality. Beyond DJing and production, DJ POOL actively builds frameworks that connect local culture with international circuits through projects such as OVRTRN. Focused on longevity, weight, and precision, he maintains the gravity of the underground while placing himself in a globally legible position.
