Dance Cry Dance Break

The Dance Cry Dance Break is an audio zine podcast featuring new music from independent artists alongside stories and essays inspired by their songs. The show is produced by Seattle music and arts collective Dance Cry Dance. In March 2023, we were named one of Fast Company's top ten Most Innovative Companies in the Music Industry. We are searching for 12 songs for the next season of our podcast. The song needn't be new. Good songs don't have an expiration date. But it should be your best. Each episode features one song (or occasionally an EP) by one artist and a short fiction or creative non-fiction story inspired by the song. Extended episodes feature an interview conversation between the artist and writer. ** Please only send ONE (1) track per artist. Send your very best - we're more likely to select songs with dynamic instrumentation and arrangements and interesting, well-crafted lyrics.** **Please no songs under 3 minutes** Our podcast has a growing audience as we come to the end of our first season. We've been gaining a lot of buzz for our innovation and care and attention to the quality of our releases. We distribute widely on Apple, Spotify, Substack, and most anywhere you can hear podcasts. We pay artists an upfront license fee for the use of their song on the podcast as well as ownership points to earn royalties on future revenue. We'll also release a print zine at the end of each season in which your cover art and lyrics will be featured alongside the story inspired by your work. Revenue share will apply to any physical sales revenue from the zine. Approved songs are not shared until the writer assigned to your song has completed their story and you have approved the story. The process can take some time, so we appreciate your patience.
