Hi there, I'm Max! After five years with Sofar Sounds - leading scouting, booking, curating, and artist development - I started my own label/distro, mendel! I also write a music discovery newsletter, Max's Music Mondays, on Substack. All of this work has kept me searching and listening for undiscovered music. Giving me hard-earned knowledge in every part of the industry, all of which I'd love to put to good use. On the Label/Distro side, I'm hoping to give feedback about both production and songwriting, offer critiques, suggest new references/peers, wherever I can be helpful. Most of my work is in the indie rock/indie folk world, but am a fan of everything. We're always open to signing new artists for Label/Distro/Management if the fit is right. On the mentor side, I know how difficult and confusing all of this can be. Hoping to put my experience and learnings to good use and answer your questions big and small, building meaningful relationships with the artists I resonate with! Of course there's always the chance to add to some of my playlists, but their small scale have me focused on these more impactful feedback, critique, and support options.
