Bio
Christopher Cordoba (Biography) As musical director of Jack Adaptor (an avant pop band formed with Paul Frederick of Brit Pop forefathers The Family Cat over 20 years ago), an instrumental solo artist, soundtrack composer and London based session musician Christopher Cordoba has garnered critical acclaim with an ever expanding and eclectic set of releases. “Overall then, this is a determinedly intelligent listen, redolent of some of Barry Adamson’s best work. We may not know exactly what is on Cordoba’s mind as he recorded these songs but I would suggest that they will be affecting in their own right to each listener. Christopher Cordoba has a gimlet eye and a magpie ear for bits and pieces of sound which fit wonderfully well together to create something unexpected. He brings an organic and, yes, human feel to the electronic elements of this album and a cool mechanical vibe when thinks teeter on the edge of emotion. A neat trick. Check it out and let your intellect be overwhelmed” (Phillip Thompson - Us Poor Humans Review, Louder Than War Magazine, June 2016) “Throughout his career the instinct has been to experiment and to obfuscate to take listening into unknown territories. He has blues, funk, new wave, ambient, downtown experimental and acoustic folk all at his finger tips. “ (Glenn Max - Artistic Director, Village Underground) Over the course of his career Cordoba has collaborated with such artists such as: Robert Wyatt David Watson (OMD/Bert Jansch) Billy Mackenzie (The Associates) Phil Vinall (Radiohead/Placebo Producer) Claudia Brucken (Propaganda) Robyn Hitchcock Dean Fertita (Queens of The Stone Age) Evan Jenkins (Neil Cowley Trio) Pascal Gabriel (Dido / Goldfrapp Producer) Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey Band) Audrey Riley (String Arr Coldplay/Smashing Pumpkins) Alex Thomas (Air/John Cale/Anna Calvi) Charlie Winston There is an arrangers sensibility to everything he does and the guitar is invariably his chosen tool to create a statement, not an end itself. An artist who's ability of self expression has pushed the world of guitar in to new territory. This has recently been brought to the attention of BBC Radio 3's Late Junction which has played several of his instrumental pieces and internationally renowned Wire Magazine. “Very Bowiesque” Max Reinhardt BBC Radio 3 Late Junction
