David Grandison Jr. was raised in Detroit, Michigan (Motown) and has led multiple award-winning studios, he specializes in film, video, and VR storytelling ...and he is obsessed with music. He is a Creative Advisor and video producer for the Red Hot music label which is a not-for-profit production company whose mission is promoting public health and diversity through equal access to care. Red Hot has worked with numerous artist who have donated tracks to their thematic compilations like; Meshell Ndegeocello, David Byrne, Beastie Boys, Jeff Mills, De La Soul, Patti Smith, The Roots, Sinead O’Connor, U2, Wu-Tang Clan, D’Angelo, and Madonna to name a few. He has created numerous games and apps like DIYdoc, which was created in collaboration with Red Hot Organization and Alicia Key's Keep A Child Alive NGO. This is an app that helps crowdsource the creation of short promotional films. David produced numerous cutting edge online courses utilizing video and VR for top Universities. He produced the Music Industry Essentials online course in association with Clive Davis Institute and Billboard where he worked with top musicians and music industry executives to demystify careers in the music industry and teach students how to develop and promote themselves as artists. He created a course for for Rolling Stone and NYU Tisch Film School called Film and TV Essentials where he created VR explorations of studios like the Beastie Boys' Oscilloscope Labs and taught the music video creation process with Pharoahe Monch. He is also a Producer on the feature film God Said Give Em’ Drum Machines (GSGEDM.com) which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. This film explores the birth of Techno music in Detroit and how Afro-American teens revolutionized electronic music around the world. David is the Founder and Executive producer of The Music Origins Project (MusicOrigins.org), a media outlet that geolocates stories (using Google Street Views/VR) about the origins of musical artforms around the world, and highlights musical events / festivals, and music-related historical locations around the world. The website also showcases up-and-coming artists and seeks to discover new genres and art forms to provide resources to teach young people about music history, digital storytelling, VR, and other STEAM skills. He is also co-founder of Making A Brand (MakingABrand.co) a web-based program designed to help creative professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs learn to create and market their brands. I write and curate article submissions on new artists, new genres, music festivals, concerts, and music history for the Music Origins Project (http://musicorigins.org) and enjoy giving feedback on new music and music-related projects.
