Kraków x JAZZKULTURA
Few cities in Poland can boast such a long jazz history and tradition, rich with renowned names and important initiatives, as Kraków. It’s no surprise, then, that JAZZKULTURA was founded here and continues to grow. Its aim is to continue the jazz tradition and reach into its history, but above all, to present what is most current and innovative in jazz and improvised music today.
JAZZKULTURA is not just a radio station — it’s first and foremost about people.
The editors of JAZZKULTURA actively build the jazz community in Kraków and across Poland, striving to unite it, create networks, and foster mutual exchange.
Why jazz and culture?
Jazz in Kraków is not just a part of its history — it is a daily reality and an element of the city’s fabric. Yet, there was a lack of an entity that could bring together the jazz community — not only in Kraków — provide information about events, give voice to artists, and present ambitious music both to jazz connoisseurs and to anyone seeking high-quality creativity.
Contemporary jazz and improvised music take on many forms — jazz-trained artists often create music that is hard to classify or venture into areas far removed from traditional jazz. This music does not exist in a vacuum but within a broad cultural context and often accompanies artistic events. That’s why JAZZKULTURA also features other music genres, as well as cultural and current affairs programs.
Jazz has always been a music of freedom, which is why the station also addresses current social issues, including multiculturalism and activism.
Editorial Team
The core team of JAZZKULTURA consists of people with many years of experience: journalists, producers, cultural animators, promoters, staff of cultural institutions, music lovers, and artists themselves. They all share the goal of ensuring the highest quality of content and music, organizing live concerts, and promoting the jazz scene of Małopolska, Poland, and beyond.
Since September 2024, JAZZKULTURA has been run by the Jazzkultura Association.
Previously, from February 2021 to August 2024, the station operated as part of the “Dworek Białoprądnicki” Cultural Center.
